Mathematics competitions - Information for 2016–2017

Sun Life Financial Canadian Open Mathematics Challenge

The Sun Life Canadian Open Mathematics Challenge will take place from 9h until 11h30 on Thursday 3 November 2016.

Most of the problems on the COMC are based on the mathematics curriculum taught in secondary schools and CEGEPs. Some questions require a degree of understanding beyond the curriculum. Potential topics include:

To register for the competition, print and complete this registration form, and bring it, with a $15 deposit, to William Boshuck (H 228). by 4:00pm on Friday 30 September. The deposit is returned when you sit the paper.

Canadian Senior Mathematics Contest

The Canadian Senior Mathematics Contest (CSMC) will take place from 9h until 11h on Wednesday 23 November 2016.

Most of the CSMC problems are based on the mathematical curriculum up to and including the final year of secondary school.

To register for the CSMC, print and complete this registration form, and bring it, with a $10 deposit, to William Boshuck (H 228). by 4:00pm on Friday 21 October. The deposit is returned when you sit the paper.

While preparing for this contest, you may wish to have a look at past contests and solutions and the Sample Contest . You may also wish to have a look at the Euclid eWorkshop , and possibly also at some past Euclid Contests .

Concours de l'AMQ

The Concour de l'AMQ will take place from 9h until 11h on Wednesday 22 February 2017.

To register for the Concour de l'AMQ, print and complete this registration form, and bring it, with a $15 deposit, to William Boshuck (H 228) by 16h30 on Wednesday 1 February. The deposit is returned when you sit the paper.

To prepare for the Concours de l'AMQ you may wish to look at some previous papers.

Euclid Contest

The Euclid Contest will take place 9h–11h30 on Thursday 6 April 2017.

To register for the Euclid Contest, print and complete this registration form, and bring it, with a $15 deposit, to William Boshuck (H 228) by 13h on Friday 17 March. The deposit is returned when you sit the paper.
